BIO:
Andrew Maccoll was born in 1978 to a documentary producer mother and United Nations media Peace Prize winning father. After school he continued on to finish a degree in photography at Griffith University. In his final year he began working for the News Ltd group of newspapers. Working from paper to paper Andrew shot everything from death knocks to ex-presidents, pop-stars to bad pr events. The work became a lifestyle for many years shooting for The Australian, Herald Sun, and various magazines from a Melbourne base.
In 2008 the realisation of an innate need for more creative production time sunk in hard. Stuck in a rut of 15 minute shoots adhering to sometimes extreme deadlines the decision was made to forge out a new path into magazines, fashion & advertising.
Today Andrew adapts his style towards a myriad of clients ranging from the cosmetic beauty industry, fashion houses to banks and ad agencies. All the while keeping an eye on market positioning his work and pushing hard to constantly deliver an interesting aesthetic. He keeps a solid mindset on what's real and important in life devoting his time free of charge to Breast Cancer network Australia and other charities. Industry recognition granted to Andrew's work include being named the Pulp Magazine fashion photographer of the year, and top 10 finalist places for the Hasselblad Masters in Berlin, Qantas SOYA awards, Moran Prize, and Olive Cotton awards respectively. Most recently in 2010 he has been announced as one of Australia's top 10 photographers in both Advertising and Fashion by Capture & Creative magazines.
Andrew offers free estimates for fashion & advertising photography. Don't hesitate to get in touch with the studio for your next creative project.
